Answering Your Questions – Part 3

[OPENING]

4-25-2013 3-20-59 PMAs I was sitting at one of my offices away from home (Brig O’Doon), I decided to ask a gentleman sitting next to me if he knew what a Virtual Assistant was.  He didn’t (AND he worked for Hewlitt Packard).  Perfect opportunity.  I told him a virtual assistant was anyone who assisted someone virtually.  He said that made perfect sense.  Smart guy – not everyone clicks on the idea right away.  Great person to ask what he would want in a Virtual Assistant.

Communicating

4-25-2013 3-50-10 PM“I’d want to know when we can actually talk on the phone,” and not just other methods of communication such as IM, skype, email, etc.

Good plan.  I have quite a few clients that have set weekly meeting times to talk on the phone and just review the week, make sure the upcoming week’s schedule is in place, to discuss upcoming events and marketing plans, etc.

But I always encourage other modes of communication including Skype, email, texting … I even have a bookkeeper who leaves ‘post-in notes’ on our clients’ desktop so that if he has a question, the note pops up every time the client opens his/her computer, they type a quick answer or know to look at something, and it’s quick and easy.

I’d have to say my favorite mode of communication with a client one-on-one is through Skype.  We can schedule a call and share either my screen or theirs and save time by looking at what we’re discussing.
